===Abstract===
A basic organizational chart is a map of the positions of which an organization is composed. It typically shows relationships of authority in an organization — that is, the hierarchy of who reports to whom (but there are alternatives such as the "organigraph".
===Case Study===
===Theory===
In a general hierarchical organization there are line positions and staff positions. Staff positions support line positions. Line authority is the "chain of command." Staff authority consists of the right to advise and feed information to line managers. Functional authority is the limited authority of staff experts that allows them to do their job.
