OR-hackathon-20120323
Friday 23 March
- Worked on ORG survey : added variable mnemonics
- Did a quick tally of responses to "why do you participate?" and "why don't your participate?" Each could be answered in zero to three open-ended answers. Required a little massaging of the data for questions 16 and 17 because blank answers were often coded as blanks (that is, a few spaces) and in other cases they were code n/a or na. Did a quick global edit of these. There might have been others that I missed. Bottom line: the numbers probably undercount non-answers.
Reasons Why Yes | |||||

Reasons Why No 0 | 911 | 42 | 59 | 1901 | 2913 |

Reasons Why Yes | |||||
0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | Total | |
Reasons Why No 0 | 18% | 1% | 1% | 37% | 57% |
Reasons Why No 1 | 1% | 0% | 1% | 4% | 6% |
Reasons Why No 2 | 1% | 0% | 1% | 5% | 7% |
Reasons Why No 3 | 4% | 0% | 0% | 26% | 30% |
Total | 23% | 2% | 3% | 72% | 100% |
Take away: about 6% had some reasons NO and no reasons YES. 39% had some reasons YES and no reasons NO. 37% had some of each. 18% had none. Those interested in ambivalence and the internal conversations people have about participation have about 1900 repsponses to look at.
