When we wrote down the word DIALECTIC vertically on the side of the breakdown of the 3 periods in class, does this mean we can use this term by saying something has a DIALECTIC relationship? Does dialectic mean- one thing only arises so that it can resolve the other?
I just want to better understand what the word dialectic means. If anyone has any way to explain that would be great!!
Main thing in dialectic is opposition being resolved into something that gives rise to new opposition. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialectic
When we say "it's dialectical" or "it's a dialectic" we are pointing out that there is a tension between opposite ways of looking at something or opposing ways of organizing something, especially where you can see the second one rising up from the internal contradictions of the first. The "dialectical process" is one in which these opposites struggle with one another (or their supporters/believers do) and the conflict is resolved in some kind of synthesis.
