Dozens of classes each semester are still scheduled outside of the official time slots. The figure to the right shows the most frequently used unofficial slots over the past 10 semesters. Note that there are many other slots in use but they show up 10 or fewer times over five years. |
These fall into a few generic categories:
- variations on existing slots (e.g., U17a is slot B without a Friday meeting)
- slots that meet in times that the official schedule simply does not include (e.g., Monday's during faculty meetings)
- slots that are slight displacements of existing slots (e.g., U19C is slot Y shifted by 15 minutes)
- slots that effectively combine adjacent official slots and then drop a day (e.g., U30b is H+N but meets only M not MW)
