Capstone Seminars
The Capstone Sequence
SOC/ANTH190 is the first part of our two semester "capstone" sequence. The purpose of this two course sequence is to provide the student with an opportunity to consolidate knowledge and skills learned in previous courses, both in the major and not, and to demonstrate
- mastery of some subset of these
- capacity to self-directly "find out"
- ability to effectively communicate about social scientific method and findings
The most typical approach to this is to produce a research proposal in proseminar during junior year spring semester and to carry out the research and present it as a written senior thesis during the senior seminar (SOC/ANTH191) in the fall semester of senior year.
