How to Get Location Information and Load ASA Schedule into Calendar

Go to the online ASA conference session browsing webpage.

Browse schedule and add things to "my schedule"

Go to the "My Schedule" tab - top right just under the menu bar. myschedule.gif
Select "Download in icalendar format" at center of screen. icalendar.gif
In Outlook go to File>Open and select "Open Calendar" outlook.gif
Hover on the entry in Outlook to get basic info hover.gif
If you click an item in your Outlook calendar you will see time/title/location info. fullinfo.gif
And over on your iphone you get iphone1.gifiphone2.gifiphone3.gif

NOTE: the entries in the calendar are a bit wordy. If you open the ICS file as a text file in Word you can do a few quick search/replace to tidy things up

  1. Eliminate " MDT"
  2. Eliminate "Thematic Session. " and THEMATIC SESSION."
  3. Eliminate "Regular Session. " and "REGULAR SESSION."
  4. Replace "Denver\, CO\, Colorado Convention Center" with, say, "CCC"
  5. Replace "Denver\, CO\, Hyatt Regency Denver" with "Hyatt"

and so on.

NOTE 2: best hack would be to have someone put every event/session on their My Schedule, export that and then post the ICS file so folks could import and do the sorting and selecting in their own calendar program instead of via a clumsy web interface. #hadweworldenoughandtime
